A TOUCH OF EVERYRHING WARM AND GENTLE

LATE POST
A TOUCH OF EVERYRHING WARM AND GENTLE
She was sitting on the couch, bald from the effects of chemotherapy but full of life and zeal to push on with her fight against cervical cancer. And the words she uttered still rings in my ears " Bethel, don't worry the devil wants to embarrass himself, because I will overcome this challenge " Yes, I left her that day in May, with an assurance from her that she will overcome. She had helped countless people and believed hers will not be different, but the ways of life, who can predict? We are the sum of experiences that we encounter as we go through life. Day to day struggles and triumphs are experienced by all of the world's creatures. As human beings, when we encounter a challenge, we have freedom to choose how to react. And a good reaction is coming from “Swissgarde Nigeria” in collaboration with the “Grace Nwogbo Foundation” (GRANFO).
For those who don’t know her, Madam Agnes Uche Nwagboso, is the cornerstone of Swissgarde in the ancient city of Aba, Abia State, which is under the Portharcourt office. She runs our Stockist outlet in the enyimba City. She was an active distributor who rose to become a Director and qualified for almost all the past oversea trips, with the Brazil trip being her last. She preached swissgarde and worked till the day she died and today, more than a year after her death her earnings still comes and her office is still operational. This is a feat many who are alive have not been able to achieve, yet she does it in death. If you visit her office at 54 Aba / Owerri road, in the ancient city of Aba, the cool demeanour from her picture that hangs on the wall, welcomes you to that Swissgarde outlet, which still bubbles with activities. This tells you more about the legendary nature of this great distributor, that even death could not take or erase her shine.
Her experience is an eye opener to ladies about the nature of Cervical cancer. Many times the symptons are silent and like in her case , when it was discovered , it had eaten too deep. This tells you that many women today may already have it without their knowledge. This is the reason why Swisgarde Nigeria in collaboration with GRANFO is putting up a special discourse on Cervical cancer on the 29th of January, 2018 at its Conference hall of the 6b Adeniyi jones Towers of Swissgarde Nigeria in Ikeja , Lagos State. At exactly 11.30am. Qualified health practitioners will be present on this Uche Nwagboso inspired event. This is in line with the fact that January, has been declared internationally as the Cervical cancer month. Now, you have the opportunity of knowing why this disease is killing so many women and what you can do to protect yourself and even address it.
Every decision that we make leads us down a different road. We will never come to exactly the same crossroads. Every decision that we make has significance. The tiniest choice that we make reverberates throughout the entire universe. The exploits of this gentle , warm and gracious lady will be indelible in the annals of swissgarde’s history in Nigeria. I pray that God grants us all the strength to bear this great loss.

It's almost time for the "I'm Possible" Roadshows. Are you Possible? and are you ready to take Swissgarde to new heights. Be at the Meetings with Sibongile, Lovelyn and Isabel from the 12th February 2018 (see details attached or call 08035656966 for more details.
UNDERSTANDING THE IMPLICATION OF YOUR FIBROID SIZE

Fibroid size is one of the symptoms of uterine fibroids that doctors follow to determine whether treatment is needed. It is unclear why fibroids develop, but several factors may influence their formation. There’s also some evidence that fibroids run in families and that identical twins are more likely to both have fibroids than non-identical twins. Oestrogen and progesterone, two hormones that stimulate development of the uterine lining during each menstrual cycle in preparation for pregnancy, appear to promote the growth of fibroids. Fibroids contain more oestrogen and progesterone receptors than normal uterine muscle cells do. Fibroids tend to shrink after menopause due to a decrease in hormone production.

Uterine fibroids vary widely in size from as small as a coin to the size of a large melon. A very large uterine fibroid can cause the uterus to expand to the size of a 6 or 7 month pregnancy. Fibroids can form as one single dominant fibroid or as a cluster of many small fibroids. A woman’s uterus is approximately 3 inches (7.6 cm) long, and pear-shaped. A small fibroid may not cause any symptoms, so you may not even know you have it. A larger fibroid may cause your uterus to enlarge, and then you will start to notice changes.

SIZE AND INTERPRETATION.

If a fibroid is less than 3cm, it is adjudged to be small. If it is between 3 to 5 cm it can be termed to be moderate. If it is between 6 to 10 cm, it is moderately large. While a size that is above 10cm is large. Based on location if it is found on the outer surface of the uterus, it is a seubserous fibroid. If it is found within the muscle wall, it is known as submucus fibroid. It is called a Fibroid polyp, if it is a polyp growth in the cavity of the Uterus.

THE RESULTANT EFFECT OF THE SIZE

Fibroid may cause nothing , if it is small. It may cause heavy and or prolonged menstrual bleeding depending on location and size. It may cause pressure in abdomen if large enough or cause pain if it gets twisted on its stalk. It may also cause lower back pain. Pain is likely during pregnancy when fibroid may degenerate. Increased urination may occur, by pressing on the bladder, is another likely development. Cramping during Menstrual Period is a common feature as well. Swelling or enlargement of uterus even without pregnancy occurring may be observed. Pain during intercourse if a frequent complaint.

The good news is that there is one company whose distributors have used herbal based alternatives to handle fibroid related challenges, without you needing to go through the surgeon’s knife. If you want more information on how this has been made possible, contact the nearest Swissgarde distributor around you or call our Health Management Consultant on 08035656966 for more information.

AFRICAN POTATO: THE AUTOIMMUNE CHIEFTAIN WHEN THE BODY ATTACKS ITSELF.

AFRICAN POTATO: THE AUTOIMMUNE CHIEFTAIN WHEN THE BODY ATTACKS ITSELF.

For many, on hearing that name African Potato they immediately think of sweet or Irish Potato. But Swissgarde’s African potato has nothing to do with the two mentioned above and the plant African Potato, has proven to be one of the most important herbal plant for a key product named after it. African Potato comes from African Hypoxis plant or “African Potato.” Its nomenclature derived because of the potato-like appearance of the Hypoxis plant.

STEROLS AND STEROLINS

Sterols (a chief component of the hypoxis plant) just like cholesterol, are in the same large classification family of steroids, but they do not have the negative effects that often are associated with steroids. Sterolins are glucosides, which are molecular structures joined to the sterol. Sterolin is easily destroyed, and without it, the sterol does not have the same immune-enhancing benefits. In nature, plants never contain sterols only. The sterols are always associated with their glucoside, sterolin.

HOW IT HELPS OUT IN AUTOIMMUNE SITUATIONS:

Your body’s immune system protects you from diseases and Infection. But if you have an autoimmune disease, your immune system attacks healthy cells in your body by mistake. Autoimmune diseases can affect many parts of the body. No one is sure about what confuses the immune system to the extent of attacking the body cells. Autoimmune diseases do tend to run in families. Women, especially of African descent, tend to suffer from such situations more.

Sterols and Sterolin balances the immune system. Sterols and sterolins allow the immune system to regulate itself: “upregulating” or boosting an underactive response and “downregulating” an overactive one. Thus, its ability to play decisive roles in autoimmune conditionsa. Sterols and sterolins ellicit immune regulating effects. Sterols/sterolins are adaptogenic in that they modulate the immune and stress response. This makes them extremely valuable adjuncts to the prevention and treatment of a wide range of stress-mediated disorders, as well as immune deregulation and inflammatory diseases. Addison’s disease, Colitis, Crohn’s Disease, Type I Diabetes, Grave’s Disease, Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, Lupus, Myasthenia Gravis, Polymyalgia rheumatica, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Scleroderma, and Sjogren’s syndrome are autoimmune conditions that could benefit from sterol/sterolin supplementation.

Note that in orthodox medical practice, autoimmune conditions are mostly handled with corticosteroids or other drugs that reduce the body’s immune response. But in steroids and sterolins you have an alternative that balances the immune system without the down side of suppressing its response. Little wonder, our African potato which contains Sterols and sterolins is a product you don’t toy with.

WHO SHOULD AVOID STEROL/STEROLIN SUPPLEMENTATION LIKE AFRICAN POTATO?

Recipients of foreign organ and tissue transplants, including bone marrow and corneal transplants are cautioned not to take any immune regulating nutritional supplements. Therefore, sterols and sterolins are NOT recommended for transplant patients. People with synthetic replacement/reconstruction will not be affected, such as in hip replacement, knee replacement, breast reconstruction and pacemaker implant.

People with multiple sclerosis should take plant sterols and sterolins only under the guidance of their health care practitioner.
Diabetics should monitor their blood sugar closely as many have experienced a reduction in insulin requirements.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STEROL/STEROLIN SUPPLEMENTS AND HERBS THAT BOOST IMMUNE RESPONSE, SUCH AS ECHINACEA?

The key difference between echinacea and sterol/sterolin supplements is that echinacea only stimulates the immune system, while sterol/sterolin balances it. Echinacea is not recommended for prolonged use, or for people with autoimmune conditions like the ones mentioned above. Sterols and sterolins allow the immune system to regulate itself: “upregulating” or boosting an underactive response and “downregulating” an overactive one.

STOP BEING A HUMAN CHIMNEY

STOP BEING A HUMAN CHIMNEY

Today many people are aware of the dangers tobacco products present to human health, the demand for smoking cessation aids continues to increase at a rapid pace. While many pharmaceutical remedies are effective, they can become rather expensive for those who are living on a budget. But why do we really need to quit smoking, so that we don’t turn ourselves into a chimney?
No matter how you smoke it, tobacco is dangerous to your health. There are no safe substances in any tobacco products, from acetone and tar to nicotine and carbon monoxide. The substances you inhale don’t just affect your lungs. They can affect your entire body. Smoking can lead to a variety of ongoing complications in the body, as well as long-term effects on your body systems. While smoking can increase your risk of a variety of problems over several years, some of the bodily effects are immediate. Let’s highlight some of them:

CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM
One of the ingredients in tobacco is a mood-altering drug called nicotine. Nicotine reaches your brain in mere seconds and makes you feel more energized for a while. But as that effect wears off, you feel tired and crave more. Nicotine is extremely habit-forming, which is why people find smoking so difficult to quit. Physical withdrawal from nicotine can impair your cognitive functioning and make you feel anxious, irritated, and depressed. Withdrawal can also cause headaches and sleep problems.

RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
When you inhale smoke, you’re taking in substances that can damage your lungs. Over time, this damage leads to a variety of problems. Along with increased infections, people who smoke are at higher risk for chronic nonreversible lung conditions like lung cancer, chronic bronchitis, etc.

CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM
Smoking damages your entire cardiovascular system. Nicotine causes blood vessels to tighten, which restricts the flow of blood. Over time, the ongoing narrowing, along with damage to the blood vessels, can cause peripheral artery disease. Smoking also raises blood pressure, weakens blood vessel walls, and increases blood clots. Together, this raises your risk of stroke.

INTEGUMENTARY SYSTEM (SKIN, HAIR, AND NAILS)
The more obvious signs of smoking involve skin changes. Substances in tobacco smoke actually change the structure of your skin. A recent study has shown that smoking dramatically increases the risk of squamous cell carcinoma (skin cancer).Your fingernails and toenails aren’t immune from the effects of smoking. Smoking increases the likelihood of fungal nail infections. Hair is also affected by nicotine. An older study found it increases hair loss, balding, and graying.

DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
Smoking increases the risk of mouth, throat, larynx, and esophagus cancer. Smokers also have higher rates of pancreatic cancer. Even people who “smoke but don’t inhale” face an increased risk of mouth cancer.Smoking also has an effect on insulin, making it more likely that you’ll develop insulin resistance. That puts you at increased risk of type 2 diabetes and its complications, which tend to develop at a faster rate than in people who don’t smoke.

SEXUALITY AND REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM
Nicotine affects blood flow to the genital areas of both men and women. For men, this can decrease sexual performance. For women, this can result in sexual dissatisfaction by decreasing lubrication and the ability to reach orgasm. Smoking may also lower sex hormone levels in both men and women. This can possibly lead to decreased sexual desire.
Since smoking affects every body system, finding a way to quit is the most important step you can take to living a longer and happier life. The next phase in our discourse will centre on how to do it.

TIPS ON HOW TO QUIT
Water
Part of the reason that nicotine is so addictive and so hard to get rid of is because it permeates your body as a toxin. It gets into your system and is very hard to get out. But water is a natural detoxifier. It will purge your system better than just about anything. And your body needs water to counteract many of the harmful effects of tobacco and nicotine.
The water helps you heal and it enables you recover from smoking while you are trying to quit. As you abandon your regular smoking habits your body will heal on its own and start to detoxify, but water gives it an extra boost, and it speeds up the process, helping you fight your addictions that much more.
Ginger
As your try to quit smoking, you will likely start to feel nauseous. This is one of the most common symptoms people experience when they try to quit. To combat that nausea, you can take ginger, either in tablets, capsules or as a tea. It will calm your stomach and help you overcome the nausea. And it might keep you from being tempted to go back to the cigarettes for relief. Swissgarde’s Defender gives your stomach that calming effect, because of the ginger and other important extracts it contains.

Vitamins
As you fight the toxins in your body, you may feel like you need some help. Multivitamins, especially those containing Vitamins A, C, and E are excellent for repairing your body and giving it the essential nutrients it needs to expel toxins. What you are looking for as you combat your addiction is something that can ease the withdrawal symptoms and make you better able to handle your cravings. Vitamins reenergize your system and give you the strength to fight back. This is the reason why Swissgarde’s stress active, which is a rich multivitamin mix can help you out in quitting the habit.

Ginseng
If you want to combat the cravings specifically, then ginseng may be the key. You can use about a spoonful of ginseng powder and add it to your juices, cereal, oatmeal or soup. It is best to take it during the morning. That way it can fight your cravings all day. If you find that it is not enough for your cravings, then you can increase your dosage or take it more frequently. The good news is that Swissgarde’s Aloe power can be employed here because of its ginseng content.

BODY DETOXIFICATION
The biggest part of conquering your addiction and the symptoms of withdrawal is to get the toxins out of your body. Nicotine is one of those toxins, and once it is out, you should not experience any more cravings or withdrawal symptoms. Increasing your water intake is a great way to do so, but you can fight even harder by combining Swissgarde’s Aloe Power, Super cider and Defender. It is the toxins that are causing you to feel cravings and that keep your energy levels down. By using detoxifiers you can boost your energy levels and start to feel better much faster. One cap of Marina Spa can also suppress occasional bouts of nicotine craving a smoker may experience.
